LEVEL
I think this course is not specifically for beginners, so as a bonus, I’ve made a mini-tutorial on how to do fur. It is suited for intermediate levels who have moved beyond the beginner phase and who have a minimum mastery of the basics to go further.
Because a whole painting encompasses several difficulties/types of textures which could each be the subject of a very detailed course (which you will soon find in my master classes and exercises). Before tackling an entire painting, one must work very thoroughly on each element separately.
In a tutorial of this length, it’s not possible to do an ultra-detailed course with all the basics and principles for each texture in this painting! Especially since those who already master the basics would get bored.
To work judiciously and efficiently, you need to adapt the level and the number of difficulties to your level.
So eventually on this site there will be 2 types of courses:
- Master classes and exercises: to learn and understand all the basics in very detailed ways.
- Tutorials with a whole painting: to put into practice and deepen the basics learned.
You already have the basics and you want to go further on:
- How to make fine fur and clean details
- How to realistically create the textures of short and smooth fur
- How to make a horse’s eye look alive
- How to work subtly to achieve a very soft rendering
- How to make horse manes
- Which pastel pencil colors to choose
- How to do underlayers in dry pastel
- In what order to apply the colors
- Where to start and in what order to proceed?
- Etc…
Specific techniques seen in this course:
- How to make a uniform black background in dry pastel, without dirtying the rest.
- How to work with lens blur in dry pastel
